Are pearls sexy? On most occasions, pearls are worn as a symbol of class, professionalism, and sophistication. We see women of power like the First Lady of the United States in pearls; English Royalty and other country women have been spotted in pearls; and let’s not forget women who are lawyers, doctors, and educators who have been seen adorning the precious jewel. Not often are we exposed to pearls in an exotic fashion, or have we?

In December of 2007, celebrity reality star Kim Kardashian dared to be nude and expose her goodies in the issue of Playboy magazine wearing nothing but pearls. There was also Rihanna who stunned onlookers in Paris when she attended a fashion show for Chanel, dressed in a crème colored duster, pearls and not much to the imagination. Many people found her look to be a little too daring while most (especially men) thought that she looked like the sexiest symbol of pearls. read more

 “Hey Ms. Elitou! I have been looking at the Pearls Only jewelry and I wanted to know do you think that pearls are for the everyday woman? Can the average woman who has the hustle and bustle of work, constant outings, all while maintaining the responsibilities of raising children get a great amount of use from pearl jewelry? I am a mother of two and I find that I have little time to switch up my jewelry, I need them to go with everything and I need to be able to move fast.  I would love to invest in diamonds but I am too worried about the cost and the possibility of losing an earring due to my fast moving lifestyle. Do you think pearls would be a better fit for me? The 47-year-old blocked out all the lights from paparazzi while wearing a pair of dense bedazzled shades during the evening event with her long black strapless evening dress.

We really loved the Cultured Pearls she added to her look along with her stylish bouffant making for a mix of retro glamour and new school sparkle.

American Actress, Sophia Bush stunned while attending the luncheon in honor of designer Rachel Pally at Chateau Marmont in West Hollywood in 2009.

She did so, wearing a simply stylish, Rachel Pally top and skater skirt, accompanied with a beautifully bold gold and pearl Miriam Haskell statement necklace.

The necklace really took the dove grey top and black mini from everyday girl to chic Fashionista. We also think the look really stood out with her naughty girl Dior Gladiator heels.

Hello Ms. Elitou! I was given my Grandmother’s pearls as an anniversary gift and I want to make them look as new as I can. I want to polish them with toothpaste like my other jewelry but I am not sure if they would be safe if I did that. What are your thoughts?

Hi Aliza! Thank you for reaching out! I am very happy that you asked this question because I believe many have the same thought when it comes to cleaning pearls.

The answer is NO! It is very important to not use toothpaste on pearls, turquoise, vintage Bakelite, or vintage rhinestones, because they have softer surfaces and may get scratched. read more

One of our favorite twins, Ashley Olsen, caught our attention when she got all dressed up in a flirty black ruffle gown and pearls. She was attending the 2013 Vanity Fair’s Oscar after-party.

We have to say she looked quite stylish and we loved how she kept her face fresh and youthful with little to no makeup, sleek hair and a great pair of oversized pearl earrings.

We adore her look because it is perfectly simple. What do you think? Is it a fashion hit or miss?
